Uniform (Standardized Dress) Program:
K-5 students are required to comply with the Mandatory Uniform/Standardized Dress Policy.
Registration:
Please come to our school office for a registration packet to complete.
Kindergarten registration begins May 1.

Absences:
If your child is absent from school, we appreciate a call advising us of his/her absence. Upon the student's return, he/she needs to bring a NOTE to their teacher. This note should include the date the note was written, child's name, date(s) of absences, reason for absences, and have a parental signature.
Absence slips may also be obtained from the office upon your child's return; just stop by the office in the morning to fill one out.
Homework Requests:
If, during your students absence, you wish to obtain homework assignments, the teachers have asked that all homework requests be made by 10:00 a.m. The assignments may then be picked up at the school office after school.
Classroom Interruptions/Forgotten Items:
We are striving to allow students to spend maximum time on task. Therefore, we do notinterrupt classrooms to deliver forgotten items; (messages, lunches, lunch money, keys, homework, etc.) Please make every effort to send these items with your child at the beginning of the day.
Telephone Messages For Students:
Please make every effort to advise your children of transportation plans and after school destinations prior to the beginning of the school day. We are attempting to keep the classroom interruptions to a minimum.
CLASSROOMS WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED EXCEPT IN EMERGENCIES
Supervision:
Each morning, weather permitting, the flag will be raised at 7:55 a.m. There will be no playground supervision until that time. Once the flag is raised, students may enter the school grounds. Please inform your child of this procedure.
Lunch/Breakfast:
Hot lunches will be $2.50 and breakfast will be $1.25. Milk is available for 40 cents. Lunch funds are not available for children who have lost of forgotten their lunch money. They will be allowed to call their parents. Please do not ask your child's teacher or the office personnel to lend your child money. Please ask the office about free and reduced lunch applications and prices.
Bicycles:
Bicycle riding on school grounds is not permitted at any time. Students who violate this rule will be asked to not bring their bikes to school. Bike racks are provided. For the safe keeping of your child's bike, we encourage you to provide your child with a lock and instruct your child to use it.
California state law requires children wear a helmet when riding a bike. For their safety, students will not be allowed to ride their bikes to school if not wearing a helmet.
Skateboards, Roller Blades and Scooters:
Skateboards, roller blades and scooters are not permitted on school grounds. Please advise your child not to bring skateboards, roller blades or scooters to school.
Safety:
The safety of your child is of primary concern. You can help by discussing appropriate precautions and procedures with your child and by helping him/her to become thoroughly familiar with the safest route to school. There will be a crossing guard stationed at the crosswalk of Cypress and Lark Ellen. Please remind your child to adhere to the crossing guards directions. For those of you who drive your student to school, please refer to your "Back To School" packet, or stop by the office for a parking lot safety flyer and map.
For the safety of the students, all parents and visitors are expected to check in with the office as soon as they enter the campus.
Covina-Valley Unified School District is committed to providing a tobacco-free environment for students and it's employees. Effective July 1, 1992 smoking and the use of tobacco products have been prohibited at all times on exterior grounds and inside facilities. Your cooperation and support are very much appreciated.
